Hi I'm new to the baby sleep system and aren't to sure where to start!

I have a little boy Toby who is 11 months old, he's always been a reasonable sleeper but around 2 months ago he was poorly so i made the mistake of having him in bed with my partner and I, since then as you can imagine he doesn't want to sleep in his cot. Some nights if we're really lucky we can put him down (only when he's completely exhausted) and he can last a few hours in his own cot but inevitably he wakes up and won't go back to sleep without been in with us. I've tried the whole tea, bath, bottle, book, bed approach but there's no chance of putting him down when he's drowsy to go to sleep on his own.

His daytime routine is he'll have a nap mid morning or after his lunch but he won't go in his cot, I can put him down on the sofa and he'll quite happily sleep there on his own but the minute i take him upstairs to his cot he wakes up and won't settle again. I know how important it is for babies to have a daytime nap so I let him sleep on the sofa rather than him not having a sleep at all.

I'm struggling to break these habits so any advice would be most appreciated! Thanks!
