Multiple night wakings - teething
My baby Amaya has been a terrible sleeper since she started teething at around 3 months. She is now 7 months and seems to be getting worse. Last night she woke up I think 6 times (I lost count!), I cannot cope with this for much longer! I used c.c with my older daughter Talia with supprt from the forum when she was around 8mths and it worked brilliantly. She is still an excellent sleeper. I have tried the same with Amaya but it just does not seem to be working.
The main problem I think is that she seems to be having major problems with teething. I have referred her to our Dr, health visitor, osteopath & she is currently seeing a chiro. They have all said that she seems to have started teething early, (also apparantly has areas of tension in her head caused by very fast delivery) & appears to be in pain with the teething. I am giving her medicine every single night at the moment (on advice of dr etc) however really do not want to be doing this every night. Can medicine become a sleep prop? I hate the thought of her being in pain but i also hate the thought of drugging my baby every day! I have done c.c, she eventually settles but then just continues to wake all night. & I feel guilty leaving her to cry, knowing she is probably in pain.
Also, perhaps I am not being as consistent as I was with Talia, I have an awful lot going on at the moment & am quite emotional (which the sleep deprivation is not helping with!) and maybe I need more support this time round.
Sorry, I am waffling now. Amaya is breast fed & is also now on 3 meals a day. She has reasonable nap routine in day, 2 naps, one around 9.30am & another around 1.30pm. The only thing is the naps do really vary in length.
Any suggestions please? Thanks very much, susan
