Wakes from naps crying uncontrollably

Ollie (now aged 1) has recently been waking from naps and is really upset. He usually goes down fine into the nap but has been waking up crying and is then inconsolable for a while after this and can't be put down at all. He's not like this when waking from overnight sleep and it's not thR same after every nap (but usually once a day).
Would there be any reason for this? Thanks.
