Topic: PUPDCD turning into CC?

PUPDCD turning into CC?

I did PUPDCD with my son nearly 3 years ago and whilst it was tricky, we got there in the end.

I have just started to do this with my little girl and ditch the dummy at the same time. But it is very different this time.

1st night it took 45 mins to get her to sleep which was fine, but i noticed that PUPD just made her really really upset and she wouldnt stop crying even when being held, there wasnt much PD going on! When it got to the CD part, it seemed to work best. She was obvisouly exhausted and after a few mins crying, started to whimper and fall asleep.

She had 3 naps today (very short though, after 30 mins of PUPDCD) and the only time she even showed signs of going to sleep was during the CD part.

Tonight it took 12 mins before she fell asleep but this was because after only 5 mins of PUPD i let her CD and she fell asleep. She has since woken up twice but have managed to ssshh pat her to sleep.

Im worried that im letting her cry it out a bit too much (like CC) as she is only young, but dont feel that PUPD is helping her, as i cant really put her down as she is still crying.

Instead of PUPD for 20 mins, could I do it for about 10 mins then do CD? Or is it important to do a full 20 mins?

Im getting myself all confused!

Yippee!!Just thought id update you on how we are going. She is doing really well and is crying much less before going to sleep. We get about 12-13 hours a night now and long naps are appearing - one nap was 3 hours long yesterday!

She has now found her thumb (and finger) and will happy suck away for ages. It really seems to soothe her!

Thank you so much for all the help and support, i am one happy mummy!!

Just a quick question about the dream feed. She was having about 6oz of milk 4 times in the day, so i gave her 4 oz dream feed. She went through a spell of waking up at about 3am wanting milk, this coinsided with going upto 7oz in the day, so i uped the dream feed to 5oz. This seems to have worked. So should i stick with 5oz until she seems to wake up earlier and then up it to 6oz. Or should she still be able to manage on 5oz as she gets older?
