I am a stay at home Mum, my Husband works off shore so i spend most of my time on my own with my baby girl and my dog. I have no family support except on the phone. When Terri was born she was given a 30% chance of surving the night and i hemeraged in surgery nearly not making it. After three weeks in hospital and nearly 10 months later Terri has pretty much been given the all clear, with no after effects that we can see. As you can imagine i have been over protective and always rocked her to sleep, she is now getting to the stage where i am struggling to put her in her cot asleep and picking her up and putting her down several times a night, sometimes she is awake upto 3 hours. I am struggling tp get her to go to sleep by herself and i can't bear to see her upset.

My daughter is nearly 10 months and refuses to go to sleep by herself

When Terri was born she was given a 30% chance of survinging the night and i hemeraged in surgery nearly not making it. After three weeks in hospital and nearly 10 months later Terri has pretty much been given the all clear, with no after effects that we can see. As you can imagine i have been over protective and always rocked her to sleep, she is now getting to the stage where i am struggling to put her in her cot asleep and picking her up and putting her down several times a night, sometimes she is awake for upto 3 hours. I am struggling tp get her to go to sleep by herself and i can't bear to see her upset.

Our current routine: 5/5.30am wake, water given - 6am 6oz bottle - 7/7.30am nap 1 hour - 8/8.30am breakfast porridge with fruit puree and yogurt and half a rusk biscuit (usualy get fed to the dog) - 10/10.30am bottle 5 oz bottle 10.30/11am nap 30 mins to 1 hour 30 - 12/12.30pm lunch meat and veg puree with some baby rice, yogurt, desert - 1pm nap 30 mins to 1 hour 30 2/2.30pm bottle 5oz - 4.15pm bath - 4.45/5pm dinner lunch meat and veg puree with some baby rice, yogurt, desert - 6.30/7 bottle 9oz (don't always take it all between 6-9) asleep between 7 and 7.30.
Wakes around 9/9.30pm / 12-1 / 2-3 / 5

I have tried putting her down sleepy but awake and she gets up and plays, find her standing jumping upand down in her cot or doing head stands, amuzing when your not exhausted. after about an hour she gets up set so i pick her up. i have managed to get her to sleep rubbing her back once.

Yippee!!Hi, Terri has slept from 7.40pm to 5.40 am which is fantastic. She is now happily playing in her cot. She did wake a few rimes in the night which woke me but she settled herself back to sleep. I doidn't get up once. I am so chuffed.

Yippee!!Had a fantastic day, Terri had two, hour long naps, one in the pushchair and one in the cot, I am still having to rock her to settle her for the afternoon nap or she just gets up and jumps up and down.

This evening i put Terri to bed awake and left her, she was fine, no crying but after ten mins i went up as she was bashing about, i put back the right way round in her cot rubbed her back and left her awake. I heard nothing from her so after 15 mins I went to check on her and she was fast asleep.

I am amazed and so pleased.

Yippee!!We have had a very wingy day, but she had great fun at the childrens centre and completely wore herself out. She had to have two afternoon naps.

Terri has put herself to sleep again tonight. Am still amazed.

I have my fingers crossed for a peacefull night.

Yippee!!Last night was amazing. Terri put herself to sleep, she had a coughing fit about three in the morning, I gave her a drink, she put her self back to sleep and woke at half five. Terri must be feeling better as she ate her porridge and yogurt.

Yippee!!Breackthrough!!! The last two nights Terri has put herself to sleep, although with some crying and it still takes till 7.40 to settle, Terri has then slept all night through to between half six and ten to seven. I am so pleased.

I will keeip working on getting Terri to settle earlier.
