suddenly not sleeping as well

Hi, hello again, I am returning after a little gap. My three year old, Ben, sleeps wonderfully after taking your advice three years ago. I now have a five month old who I thought was doing really well - one feed a night and self settling with no props and napping well to boot. My smugness was rudely interrupted about three weeks ago when things went to pot!!

Our routine aims to be
7.30 wake and feed +/- 1/2 hour depending on Ben's Needs
9.00 sleep -can be up to two hours but often much less
four hourly Breast feeds through the day, no solids yet
2nd nap around 1-2pm usually about 11/2 hours
occasional nap around 4/5pm no longer than 20 mins
7-730 night routine and feed
goes to sleep with little problem drowsy or awake

He has only woken once a night since birth and had been sleeping to 5-6am regularly until recently he has been waking much earlier around 2 or 3. I then feed him and he goes through to the morning but the takes very little feed on wakening which disrupts the rest of the day.

I have tried a dream feed several times as this worked a treat with Ben but this seems to make things worse as he wakes several times a night.
CC crying will settle him after a while but after a few tries over a week or so we gave up and went back to the once a night system.

We have tried several nights of CC on the 3am wake with varying success once he went through to seven am but has regressed again with no success after 90+ minutes so I give in and feed.

He is on the 9th weight centile but gaining steadily

His naps are becoming a bit erratic too but I am persevering with CC.

I think my questions are:
Should he be sleeping through or should I just accept the night feeds until he is weaned? (starting soon)
Should I persevere with CC at night?

Getting up is not a huge problem but CC is taking its toll and I don't want to be feeding him if it is just a comfort to get back to sleep. Back to work soon too.

Thanks so much for any advice

Jo
