six month old waking every two to three hours at night
My son is nearly six months and is formula fed. He has never been a great sleeper but aged 2-3 months would go to bed at 7 and wake at 1am and 4am for feeds and always go straight back down until 7am. For the last two months however he has been waking every two to three hours all through the night. He always goes to sleep very easily - in the main we do rock him gently but he has also settled himself on occassion, but getting him to stay asleep is the problem! I know he can do longer stretches as he was doing this before. He does not always want to feed, sometimes just a dummy will soothe him straight back to sleep without picking him up.
I am prepared to do sleep training but am about to start weaning him this weekend so thought I would do that first as it might all be a bit too much for him to do both at the same time.
He is a definite cat-napper in the day, usually having four 30-40 minute naps at roughly 9am, 11am, 2pm and 4.30ish. Occassionally the first nap will be as much as an hour and a half but this is rare.
He is quite small for his age, he is on the 9th centile and generally has five 5oz feeds between 7am-10pm.
Any advice on getting him to sleep for longer stretches (both day and night!!) would be much appreciated as my husband and I are very tired!
Many thanks
