Oh Dear! Sleepy newborn is no longer a great sleeping 7.5 month old :(
Hi!
My darling sleepy newborn slept through the night until around 6 months, and after trying a few different techniques with her, I can say at 7.5 months, things are not going that great.
Her current schedule is:
5am Breastmilk and sleep until 7am
OR
6am Breastmilk and Up for the day
8am Breakfast (Fruity porridge ±3tsps)
9.30/10am sleep for 30 to 45mins
11am Breastmilk
12.30 Lunch (Veg/Meat mix ±3 tsps, and a stick of cheese)
13.00 - 14.30 Sleep (usually wakes up once but easy to put back to sleep)
14.30 Breastmilk
17.00 Snack (Yoghurt ±3tsps and Water)
Anytime between 17.30 and 18.00 Sleep for 30mins*
19.15 Dinner (Veg/Meat mix ±3 tsps and a sip of Formula Milk -she isn't drinking more than 20ml at the moment)
20.00 Sleeping (Easy to put down)
Between 23.00 and 02.00 She wakes up crying really hard and is impossible to put down with a feed, so I do, she drinks alot and furiously for around 15mins
I have been following EASY routine with her since newborn. I dropped the 10pm feed as suggested for a 6 month old, around 6.5 months. But her waking up and being very hungry had already started at 6 months.
I didn't start her on solids until the sleeping at night went bad, so it began at around 6 months. She isn't a terribly enthusiastic eater, and only this week (7.5 months) is she accepting as much as 3 tsps. So thats why I have been trying to feed her more frequently during the day. The idea with the formula milk was really just an experiment to see if it would help her sleep longer. The reason she drinks so little is that she has been purely breastfed, so is currently still learning to use a bottle (not with much luck I must say).
*I did a test with her the last 3 days to take out this sleep as I thought that this might be what was making her wake up, but in fact her sleeping got worse, with her waking every 2 hours, and being so angry and crying so loudly that I fed her to sleep. (Not something I enjoy doing).
Ultimately, I want to not breastfeed her at night.
