2.5 yr old keeps getting up in the night

If it's not one thing it's another...

2.5 yr old girl - we had a long struggle getting her out of the habit of waking for night-time bottles but we finally cracked it before Christmas.

However, after a couple of weeks of relatively good nights, she has progressively started waking in the night. She isn't asking for bottles (and we haven't given her any) but she is waking and coming to the door (there is a gate over it) and shouting for mummy. Mummy goes to see her and she generally goes straight back to bed without fuss and resettles herself. However she then wakes again a few minutes later (usually about 10-15 minutes) and the cycle starts again. This can last for an hour+ before she finally fully settles again but then she sometimes wakes later in the night and the cycle starts again.

We have tried (half-heartedly I admit) ignoring her to let her scream out and give up but she seems to escalate rather than get bored. And as she shares the room with her twin sister we are conscious of not wanting her to wake too (she generally sleeps though for a while but continual crying eventually wakes her).

We have tried reading your book but can't seem to find anything that specifically tackles such behaviour.

Any help you can give will be really appreciated!
