The morning after the night before, first night of PUPDCD

Hi there,
My son is 5 months old, is exclusively breastfed and has never slept through the night. He has slept for five hours in the past but not for some time. He had a dummy until the night before last that I had been using exclusively for helping him get to sleep from three months onwards.
Following a cold that began in early December that is only clearing away now, the fact that he was unable to re-settle himself without a dummy and total exhaustion I began bringing him into the bed with me about 4 weeks ago. Not all night, from about 12.30am when I was unable to settle him after a feed. He would go back to bed and then the dummy would fall out, over and over and over and over again. I knew I was getting into bad habits but kept kidding myself that they would sort themselves out on their own.
The night before last was the final straw. My husband and I decided that we were going to keep him in his own bed all night. He sleeps in a cot beside our bed. No exaggeration, we must have put that blasted dummy back in about 50 times and were up pretty much all night. Enough! I desperately searched for an answer yesterday and came to your book/website, what a godsend! Began implementation immediately!
I was unsure of where to begin, what was the main problem? Should I tackle the night feeds, the dummy or the sleeping in the big bed?
Well, yesterday I threw the dummies away. R settles well in his cot for naps and at night but always wakes up after about 40 mins as his dummy has fallen out and he can't resettle himself. Yesterday he settled for two naps and his night sleep without his dummy so I was glad that at least he seems able to fall asleep without it initially.
We have always had the same strict night-time routine and he falls asleep with little bother at all. Bath, massage, feed, story, dark room, light off mobile on.
Following advice from the book I decided to add in a dream feed, I had never done this before and was unsure how it would pan out.
