Dropping daytime nap - 21 month old
Hi
Haven't posted on here for a while, but its great to know this website is always here!!! Freddie is now 21 months old & since xmas he has been struggling to sleep in the day. At first I thought it was the excitement of xmas & thought I'd try to get him back into his usual sleep pattern. However, since xmas he has only slept in the day a few times & when he has, it has only been for about half an hour. However, if he doesn't have a sleep he looks really tired, is a bit grumpy & quite sensitive if things don't go his way so I feel maybe he does need it? I work part-time so his usual routine is -
7am get up, breakfast
11am start lunch (as takes a while!)
12-1.30 nap
4 tea
6-7, bath, books, bed (usually asleep by 7.30ish & usually sleeps through, if not, settles himself back to sleep)
Freddie is at nursery 2 days a week & will usually sleep there but only half an hour or so (has never had long sleeps at nursery though). but last week didn't sleep at all either.
I thought he does need his nap still but if he is trying to drop it, what can I do to make him not as grumpy without it? He doesn't sleep in his pushchair (he doesn't like being in it) & he will only sleep in the car if I was going on a long journey & it was around his nap time, so usually all his naps are in the cot - if I'm out & about, I come home to put him in his cot.
