I am Mummy to two beautiful children, Jack (18/08/11) and Bethany (17/09/08). Bethany was a terrible sleeper and didn't sleep thru the night until she was 18 months, using controlled crying. We are hoping to avoid such sleep problems with Jack.

Topic: Need help with routine

Need help with routine

Hi, my son is 4 months old and has just started on solids, I need some help designing a routine to suit him.
He wakes between 5 and 6 everyday, bedtime is 6 so this is 11-12 hours and therefore is fine. We r currently feeding him between 3 and 4 hourly, with solids about an hour after milk.
The main problem I have is he is currently only napping for 45 minutes (he wakes happy from the 3 morning naps, but wakes crying from the afternoon one and I can sometimes make it 2 hours ish), and between naps he only goes 1.5 hours, or 2 hours max before he needs a nap again.
He will not stay up later than 6, 6.30 absolute max. We have tried a late nap and he's still tired by 6, we have once managed to get him to bed for 7.30 and he still woke at 5.30, so we haven't bothered trying since.
I am going to work on lengthening his naps, particularly the afternoon one, but really need help working out what we should be aiming for.
