4 months - frequent and early waking and short napping

Hi there,

Sophie was 16 weeks on Thursday and was 13lbs 2oz two weeks ago. Until a month ago I was feeding her at least every 3 hours at night and have been trying since then to make her go longer. The last few nights she has been waking every couple of hours and starting her day at 0530. Our best nights have been feeding at midnight or 1am and then a top-up at 0500.

She is breastfed apart from trying to introduce some formula to help her go trhough the night. We have tried dream feeeding formula at 11 - she takes a couple of ounces - sometimes as much as 4 - but then still wakes around 2 for a full feed and wakes again before 5.30. Today I tried putting her on 4-hourly feeds during the day - and having fed at 2pm I gave her a bottle at 6pm - she took 6 ozs happily, then fed a bit on me after bath at 7pm and projectile vomited absolutely everywhere.

During the day she naps only for around 45 mins unless we are in the car. I have not followed a strict time routine - partly because the start of the day varies from 5.30 to 7.30 depending on the night but I have followed a consistent pattern - first nap in cot, second nap in pram, nap in cot in the afternoon and then a catnap in the pram or carrier in late afternoon. On a few occasions she has napped for a couple of hours in the morning - but mainly wakes up after 45 minutes.

I am shattered and quite daunted by this carrying on.

Grateful for any advice.
